Mary J Blige Finally Speaks About Burger King Debacle

Fri, 06/29/2012 - 3:49pm

Brands of the world, take note!  While some people seem not to care one way or another, it's the one's who have a major viewpoint about celebrities and their activities that probably create the loudest volume.  They can be the greatest influencers of support or hurl the largest pieces of kryptonite.  The comment-sphere can so easily lead to reputation deflation, hence why Mary did an about face with the quickness. Judging from most of the comments, she'll be okay.  But moreso, this incident exhibits more inside-out behavior i.e. public tells corporation what is and isn't acceptable now before it even hits the market.  Poor Mary is probably now thinking the recording studio is a lot safer place these days, no?

Singer Mary J. Blige now says that she is ‘crushed’ after Burger King Ad incident (see previous post under "Celebrity" here).  Blige admits that appearing in Burger King’s advertisement for friend chicken was a mistake. She claims that the commercial was sold to her in such a way that she would be an “icon”, yet she is now “hurt”. Burger King has apologized to her, and Blige to her fans on Hot 97’s Angie Martinez Show – but what are people still saying about this stereotype and ad?

What Others Are Saying...

The commercial was never that serious…I personally found the commercial to be more humorous, if anything, than racist. I love chicken and if someone is willing to pay me 2mil to sing about it, I bet ya I'd be on the set in a flash…

So white people can't advertise burgers, beer and Old Navy?

She got exactly what she deserved. These celebrities are so greedy…what about your charities that are doing abominably bad as was reported soon after the BK fracas? The words crispy chicken came out of her mouth…not caviar on toast points
